Common Dexis 10 Issues
Below are common issues we see with Dexis 10 when using a MouthWatch intraoral camera, along with suggested fixes.
Issue 1 – Black Screen When Launching the Camera
If the camera displays a black screen in Dexis 10, Dexis may be defaulting to a webcam or integrated camera on the PC.
- Open Device Manager and disable the webcam or integrated camera.
- Reopen Dexis 10 and launch the camera again. Dexis should now default to the MouthWatch camera.

Issue 2 – Button Works but Dexis Freezes After Capturing
If the capture button works but Dexis freezes after taking an image, verify that the correct Dexis mode is selected in MouthWatch Capture.
- Right-click the MouthWatch Capture icon and confirm Dexis 10 is selected.
- If you have an older version of MouthWatch Capture, you may need to select T instead of Dexis 10.
Issue 3 – DirectShow Error When Launching the Camera
If you see a DirectShow error message when launching the camera, confirm that VMR9 Rendering is unchecked in the Dexis video settings.
