Instructions for MiPACS Integration

MouthWatch cameras easily integrate with MiPACS. Use the MouthWatch camera to capture images of the patient and store them directly into the patient record.

Step 1 – Download the Button Capture Software

Windows SmartScreen Notice

When opening the installer, Windows may display a security message. This is expected while the new MouthWatch installer builds recognition with Microsoft SmartScreen.

Click More info, then select Run anyway.

Important:
If setting up a MouthWatch Plus+, make sure to install the required driver by checking the box during installation.

Driver installation step

  • Once installed, right-click the MouthWatch Capture icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
  • A menu will display, left-click MiPACS.

Quick Tip:
If you don’t see the MouthWatch Capture icon, click the ^ button to expand the System Tray. You can drag and drop the icon from the expanded System Tray down to your Taskbar.

Step 2 – Plug in the MouthWatch Camera

Make sure you plug the USB connector into a powered USB port. Sometimes these are located on the front or back of the computer. If your monitor has USB ports, these may not be powered.

Important:
If setting up a MouthWatch Plus+, use a USB 3.0 port.

Step 3 – Install the MiPACS Video Plugin (if needed)

  • Locate MiPACSViewersetup.exe, this is usually located on the customer’s server.
  • Run the installer.
  • Uncheck all components except Video Plugin.
  • Click Next through the prompts until installation is complete.
Note:
If you need assistance installing the MiPACS Video Plugin, we recommend reaching out directly to MiPACS Support.

Step 4 – Configure MiPACS

  • Click the Settings icon in the video plugin.

  • Select the camera using UVC hardware triggering.
  • Set Control Device to None.

  • Set Activation / Deactivation Control as shown below.

  • To begin a video exam, click the Intraoral Camera icon in the plugin.

  • When the video capture window appears, press once to freeze, then press again to save. A thumbnail will appear on the right once the image is saved.

You may need to configure MiPACS administrator access to the video plugin if allowing non-administrators to change settings.

Step 5 – All Set!

You are now ready to begin capturing images directly into MiPACS.
