Through the patient portal providers can engage in a live video conference with their patients. This feature will be useful for remote consultations for emergencies, follow up after procedures and also for discussing questions or concerns with proposed treatment.
Before you can video conference with a patient they must be registered for patient messaging (see above article). To initiate a video conference, click the Messages tab and click +New Message. Select the patient by beginning to type their name, select the correct name from the list and click Start.
You will see the patient's message history and the patient details at the top of the screen. Click the Video Call button to send an invitation to the patient and initiate the call.
The video call will launch automatically on your screen. The patient will need to click the invite in the message to join the call.
