TeleDent is the only teledentistry platform that allows you to collect data without being connected to the internet, enabling you to see patients and work in areas with unreliable internet access.
While the cloud based web app relies on a secure internet connection to access and upload patient data, TeleDent also offers a desktop app specifically designed for offline use. This app
and the web app communicate through a syncing process so that no data captured offline is lost.
In offline mode you can do the following:
- Access clinical data stored on your device
- Create new patient records
- Collect clinical data
- Create a task (assignee will be notified after sync is complete)
- Create an appointment
Download the desktop app from the Windows Store here and make sure you are using a Windows 10 device.
|Note: The desktop app designed for provider offline use is not to be confused with the mobile app for patients.|
Working in Offline Mode
Before you can work in offline mode, log into the app on your device while you are connected to the internet.
Once you are logged in, press the “Global Sync” button to download all data associated with your account. Depending on the volume of data, this may take up to 30 minutes.
When the sync is complete, you will be notified. Do not log out of the application once the sync is complete.
Once you receive notification that the sync is complete, you may begin working in offline mode.
Launch the TeleDent desktop app. Instead of entering your credentials, click “Offline Mode.”
The app will open to the last user’s settings, and you can begin working offline.
Any captured data will be stored locally on your device until you are able to sync with the cloud.
Syncing Data Collected Offline
Any locally stored data must eventually be synced in order to be viewable by other members of your practice.
Before you sync, make sure you are logged in to the desktop app and connected to the internet. You cannot sync your data if you are in offline mode.
To sync, click the “Global Sync” button in the top bar.
When your sync is complete you will receive this notice:
What to Do When Your Sync is Interrupted
Occasionally your sync may be interrupted.
This can happen for a number of reasons including sudden loss of internet connection, accidentally closing the app, or when a device crashes. If your sync is interrupted, just reestablish your internet connection and log back in to TeleDent. The sync will automatically resume where it left off. You will be notified when the sync is complete.
