Group messaging is ideal for communicating with multiple parties at the same time. It can be used for communication between two or more providers and their shared patient, between multiple providers, or between a provider, admin, and a patient.
Group messaging is also the first step for setting up and scheduling a video call. For example, a front office staff can start a message between a patient and their provider to schedule a time for video conferencing. Once a time has been agreed upon, the same front office staff can use the video call button within the message history to set up the video conferencing room for the patient and provider to enter when scheduled.

To begin composing a group message, navigate to the Messages Page and click “New Message”.

Type multiple recipients in the provided field. You can message a group of providers, or a patient and other relevant providers at the same time.
You can also begin messaging by opening a previous chat if you already have a messaging history with the recipients.
Note that providers and patients are located separately in the chat list with the provider’s status indicated with a red dot (offline) or a green dot (online).
Once you have selected the recipients, begin composing your message.
TeleDent secure messaging allows you to send the following:
- Text message
- Audio memo (50MB limit)
- Short video recording (50MB limit)
- Uploaded document
- Patient clinical data
To send a text message, simply type in the messaging box.
To send an audio message, click the audio message icon.
Record your message, give it a title, and click “Attach.”
To send a video message, click the video message icon.
Record your video and then click “Attach”.
To upload files to a message, click the upload icon and open the desired file from your device.
To include collected patient data in your message, click the collected data icon.
If you are messaging a patient, their data will automatically appear in a pop-up window.
If you are only messaging providers, you must select a specific patient before accessing their data.
Select the desired data and click “Add Attachment(s).”
When you are ready to send, click the send icon.
Note: If you send a message to another provider, they will receive a notification and the message will appear in their TeleDent messages.
If you send a patient a message, they will receive an email notification and the message will also appear in their TeleDent messages.
