A provider-to-provider call or provider-to-patient video call can be initiated without an appointment being created. This is helpful when a patient is in the chair and the provider is available for a video call right away.
You can begin a new video conference by navigating to the Messages page and clicking “New Message”.
- Recipients must be connected to the internet to join a video call.
Providers who are online will also have a green dot next to their profile picture.
To initiate a video call with a single provider or patient, click “New Message” and enter the recipient in the provided field.
To initiate a multi-party video call, enter multiple users in the provided field.
Click on the “Call” button at the top right to send invitation(s) to a video chat room.
A new browser window will automatically open to launch the video call.
- Once the recipient(s) have accepted the invitation, they will join you in your video chat room.
- Whoever initiated the video call room will be automatically assigned the host function. The host can be switched if necessary.
If you want to invite someone to the video call AFTER the call has been initiated, click the Participants button
Click Add participant
Choose one participant at a time from the dropbox (TeleDent Users Only)
To leave a video chat room, click “Exit.”
Note: A video chat room does not expire once it is created. The invited parties may enter and exit and reenter at any time.
Note: While you can initiate a video call with a patient, a patient cannot initiate a video call with you.
